Hearing Voices Group

Windhorse offers a Hearing Voices Group once a week in Northampton, MA. It is available to Windhorse community members as well as free to the general public. It is facilitated by Elise White and Tim Ness who were trained to facilitate through the Recovery Learning Community. This group has an affiliated membership with the HearingVoices USA Network.
 
Here is a description of the group written by Tim:
 
We are a group that gathers to support each other through the experience of extreme states of mind that can disrupt the practical flow of our own lives.  The facilitators are trained to let the members of the group lead the direction that the gathering takes.   Some people are voice hearers, and others have experienced paranormal or spiritual phenomenon, unexplainable tactile sensations, possession states, and others.  We are all encouraged to explore our own meanings for these events, as well as share coping strategies that have worked or not worked according to our individual environments.  Although we all come to the group for different reasons, we generally are looking for the same result which is best described as alleviation; alleviation from that which prevents us from fully interacting with the world around us.
