Finding The Right Support

(Costs of these programs vary from $20 per day to $750 per day)<

We believe that each person deserves a unique support arrangement to optimize their potential for growth and recovery. We provide free in-person consultation visits here at Windhorse to learn about an individual's needs and desires and to work with them to construct their personalized team of support professionals.

As we constellate the best team for each person we are drawing on the experience and opinions of the client as a member of the team and on the community of Windhorse professionals who include licensed psychotherapists, psychiatric/wellness nurses, clinical team leaders, team counselors, peer counselors, and housemates. All of these staff members are trained and supervised in this unique approach. Following these consultations, the Admissions Team makes the final decision on team constellation.

Here are some of the team arrangements we commonly offer. They begin with our most minimal level of support and progress through to our most fully supportive team. As a person progresses with their recovery, they will move down through this continuum and the cost of support reduces as well:

  • The Community Support Team: This is a one hour per month (sometimes more) meeting with a Clinical Mentor who can serve as a liaison between the client and the greater Windhorse community. The client is invited to attend all of the Windhorse community events and support groups. The client is required to have a non-Windhorse therapist and, if medications are being used, a psychiatrist.

  • A Windhorse Clinical Mentorship: This includes two 3-hour clinical mentoring shifts each week. These shifts may occur in the home or out in the greater community with a Windhorse clinician. It may also include up to one hour per week to meet with a wellness/psychiatric nurse. The client is invited to attend all of the Windhorse community events and support groups. The client is required to have a non-Windhorse therapist and, if medications are being used, a psychiatrist.

  • The Partial Support Team: This provides approximately 16-19 hours per week of one-on-one service. Included in that time may be up to four 3-hour basic attendance shifts (an aspect of clinical mentoring) with one or more team members. It will also include up to 2 one-hour psychotherapy sessions each week with a senior clinician from Windhorse. It also includes a one-hour wellness meeting each week with the Windhorse nurse and if medications are being used, a monthly consultation with a Windhorse Psychiatrist.

This team, in some cases, may also include a trained and supervised Windhorse housemate who shares a two-bedroom apartment with the client and shares meals and housekeeping as well.

The partial team approach also includes a weekly team meeting and views the client as an equal member of the team.
  • The Full Support Team: This provides approximately 36-44 hours per week of one-on-one service. Included in that time may be up to seven 3-hour basic attendance shifts (an aspect of clinical mentoring) with one or more team members. It will also include up to three psychotherapy sessions each week with a senior clinician from Windhorse. Another important element of this team is a one-hour wellness meeting each week with the Windhorse nurse and if medications are being used, a monthly consultation with a Windhorse Psychiatrist.

This team always includes a trained and supervised Windhorse housemate who shares a two-bedroom apartment with the client and shares meals and housekeeping as well. The housemate spends about three hours per day with the client. They may go out to meet friends together, they may work together to balance the household check book, share a meal, or invite others to their home.

The full team approach also includes a weekly team meeting with all team members and views the client as an equal member of the team.
